Dr. Roman Perez-Soler
Dr. Roman Perez-Soler has dedicated his research work to developing novel ways to help patients with metastatic lung cancers, including mesothelioma. Worldwide, he is known as an expert in experimental cancer treatments and an inventor who is continually discovering new ways to help cancer patients.
Perez-Soler is on the leading edge of clinical trials that are aimed at curing lung cancers. He is the chairman of the oncology department, the deputy director of the Albert Einstein Cancer Center and the chief of the division of medical oncology at Montefiore Medical Center, the academic medical center and the university hospital for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City.
In the last 30 years, some of Perez-Soler’s accomplishments include pioneering new types of cancer treatments, clinical studies with growth factors and new interventions for patients who are at risk for developing lung cancer. He is an inventor with 17 patents and published more than 200 books and book chapters.

What is Perez-Soler’s background
Perez-Soler received his medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma of Barcelona in Spain and finished his post-graduate training at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas. He went on to be a professor of medicine and the deputy chairman of the center’s department of thoracic, head and neck medical oncology. He joined New York University’s staff in 2001 as a professor and the chairman of the oncology department at Montefiore. He became the deputy director at the Albert Einstein Cancer Center in 2012.
Perez-Soler is a Fullbright Scholar and received MD Anderson’s Distinguished Alumnus Award. Since 1989, the National Cancer Institute has continually funded his research.
