What are Loggie's specialties

Loggie specializes in treating peritoneal cancers, including mesothelioma. He is part of a team that is focusing on malignant peritoneal mesothelioma by reviewing the tumor’s microenvironment, signaling pathways, tumor models and inflammation.

Loggie was among the first surgeons in the country to use the HIPEC procedure. Since that 1992 procedure, Loggie has undertaken extensive research into the treatment of peritoneal mesothelioma. Some of these studies are regarding the HIPEC procedure using the drug Carboplatin. He said HIPEC along with cytoreductive surgery is a viable option for some peritoneal mesothelioma patients. He believes the treatment helps some patients live longer and have a better quality of life.

Loggie is known as a physician who has a passion for helping. In 2010, Loggie led a team of physicians and nurses to Haiti following the earthquake that devastated the island nation. They worked for 11 days to help some of the most injured patients.

What is Loggie’s background

Loggie received his medical degree and finished postgraduate training at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He went on for specialized training at the University of Illinois and the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons in Canada.

Loggie has held faculty positions at the University of Illinois, Bowman Gray School of Medicine in North Carolina and the University of Texas. He was formerly the director of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF).

Upon arriving at Creighton University School, he founded the school’s division of surgical oncology.
